How an FMT Tour Works

This page explains the entire lifecycle of an FMT tour: from schedule to result submission and final ranking.

1. Check the Schedule

Every tour has a published UTC time window. The Schedule page shows the next upcoming tours.

  • Find the next tour
  • Note the frequency
  • Prepare your receiver

2. Receive and record the signal

Tune your HF transceiver or SDR to the announced FMT frequency and ecord audio

  • Tune to the exact FMT frequency
  • Use narrow filters if needed

You can use signal analysis tools like Spectrum Lab to visualize and measure the carrier and pulse features. For audio-domain measurements, Audacity can suffice.

For PPS offset and timing verification, use an oscilloscope or logic analyzer with a GPS 1 PPS reference, or SDR techniques with timestamping.

3. Analyze your recording

After the tour, open your recording with suitable software. Measure the carrier frequency, time markers, or other parameters depending on the tour format.

  • View the waterfall
  • Identify the reference signals
  • Measure the needed parameters
  • Document your numbers

4. Submit your results

Log in to the FMT platform and enter your measured numbers.

  • Enter your measured frequency
  • Enter time offsets (if required)
  • Save the submission

Note: You can update or correct your submission before the tour closes.

5. See the results

After the submission window closes, results appear on the leaderboard.

  • Check your rank
  • Compare with others
  • Track your progress in future tours
